ima getting an error that is stopping game play abuptly but nothing else is damaged or hangups..

the error reads as follows;
FAIL TO LOCK VERTEX BUFFER IN CMESHDX8::LOCK VERTEX BUFFER

i am guessing it has to do with the video aspect...and why is this temp and not a seemingly apparent cause and effect, it seems random.

any suggeestions?

Just from the text of the error, I'm gonna say this is a video driver or directx problem.  Kinda curious, do u have sound-related problems in-game too?

Apparently, this is not a rare occurance....but does seem to be specific to games based on the Source engine:

1-Reinstall/Update DirectX.
2-Reinstall/Update Video Card Drivers.
3-If sound problems too, re-install/update Sound Card drivers.
4-Lower all video card settings in control panel (AA and AF especially).  Read in one place that lowering desktop color depth to 16-bit has also fixed the problem.
5-Lower the video setting in the game's option menu, including resolution, detail level, shaddows, etc....
6-If all else fails, try uninstalling HL2/CS:S and re-installing.

I've also read a couple of places that this can be caused by insufficient hardware as well.  I dunno wut ur hardware situation is, but thought i'd thro this out there too....
