I don't know about you guys, but it sure is a great time for games. The last few games I have played have all been 9 out of 10 type, classic games. For PC, I have gone back to back with World in Conflict, COD4, and Crysis. For me to replay a single player campaign with my limited time and attention span is saying something. I played through each of these at least twice.

Short review of Crysis.

This game literally has everything you could want from a shooter. It has the amazing technical achievements. Can I shoot that palm tree in half if I want to? No, you can shoot it into bits and pieces. It has game play variety/nonlinearity. During the traditional phases of the game, you really have freedom of choice in how to achieve the objective. It has the obligatory appearance of aliens as a third party. Since Half-Life, this is required, of course. It has the required "shooter on rails" segment and "let me drive something" segment. It has it all. The campaign is actually even fairly long, by today's standards. I am not doing the game justice with this summary, but you get the idea.

But...all this leads to a huge shift in my gaming life. This last black friday, a foreign package arrived on my doorstep. Inside said bundle from Amazon was a brand new XBOX 360. It seems my boss had given me a bonus that my wife could not intercept and spend. Picture me with my jaw firmly on the ground...before I find a copy of Assassin's Creed in the bottom of the box...a wireless adapter...another controller. So, I am now a console guy AND a PC guy. After all, my wife hogs the TV a lot.

...for the record Assassin's Creed is another instant classic, 9/10 game. "Look at that awesome tall building over there...it would be really cool if I could.....oh shit I CAN climb it....and do a badass jump off of it safely landing in some hay." There are literally thousands of NPCs in the cities...there are endless ways to achieve your goals...you are a complete badass. It's great. Beggars come up to you in the city...should you brush them aside, shoulder throw them against a wall to make your point, or should you just shank them and rid the world of one transient? You scale a building only to find a sentry with a longbow...should you stealthly shank him, pick a sword fight, or just push his ass of the building? I love it.

Yea it is definitely a great time for gamers.  I hope Assassins Creed comes out on PC very soon.

Btw, taking out all those aliens in the cave with zero gravity gave me a major migrane.

assassin creed rocks!!!!

I got a PS3 over thanksgiving weekend and go the following games.  COD4, Assassin Creed, and Need for Speed Pro street.  I have been all of them and I must say that Assassins Creed has my vote for game of the year and it looks incredible on my new big screen lcd running in 1080i cause it doesnt support the game doesnt support 1080p.  COD4 is great for multiplayer so I'm going to buy it for the PC as well but it has a really short storyline (4 hours or less) still the single player has to be beaten to unlock the multiplayer arcade mode.  NFS pro street is great for replay value and has a nice selection of cars and modding as usual for NFS games.

I tuned my BMW to do a six second quartermile drag (shifting is a bit tricky still need to adjust the ratio's so I have better timing but it works for me.)
